School Holidays - Incidents

patdor2

The last two weeks of the holiday period involved more rescues.   On Tuesday, 28 January at 1605 – 1715 “Ocean Watch” was deployed with Mike, Andrew, Chrissy, Graham, Scott and Chris to Cervantes for a washed-up vessel located south of Thirsty Point.  The vessel had been reported by concerned community members.   “Ocean Watch” was stood down while travelling to the scene as the vessel owners were finally located.   A huge thank you to Dave Percival for vital information needed to relay to the Water Police and a big thank you to our Radio Operators, Eve and Suzanne.   Big thanks also to our Team on “Ocean Watch” who travelled down in very swelly and choppy conditions.

The previous week, on the 22 January, at 0810 to 1125, “Ocean Watch” was deployed with Andrew, Chrissy and Chris for a tow in.  Radio Operator Dolly.   Inductions were held on “Tom Reed” on 25 January and on 28 January from 0815 to 1045 “Ocean Watch” was deployed again with Mike, Andrew, Chrissy, Scott and Chris on board.  Radio Operator Valerie.  All vessels were towed safety into the Jurien Marina.

There were a few overdue vessels. Thank you to those boaties who logged off but hadn’t logged on.  Also, some boaties were giving wrong call signs. A HUGE THANK YOU to our radio operators who managed to decipher all the various radio traffic and phone calls!!   Well done everyone!!

We have had some trailers unhitched while at our Jurien marina carpark so Boaties please check before retrieving your vessel. It was during the holiday period so the culprit/s may have departed town.

A huge thank you to those locals and visitors for donating their “containers for change” to our Group.   This is very much appreciated.   A shout out to Pat Lucas who has maintained our facilities and containers and also Margaret Bown who has repaired all our flags, which we use at our building, weather permitting.
