There has been a lot of excitement and action happening around our Marine Rescue Tower recently. Firstly, the airberth arrived on Monday, 22 May and was installed at our pontoon. A big thank you to the crane driver Paul and Joe the installer. Thank you also to Mike Cockburn for installing the portable pump required for the airberth.
On Friday, 26 May the big day arrived! It was time to collect our new Rescue 1 vessel from Geraldton!!! Skipper and Bosun, Mike, was at the helm with crew members, Andrew and Craig, bringing her from Geraldton to Jurien. Treasurer, Carla, and Training Co-ordinator, Dolly, accompanied the crew to Geraldton in order to drive the Group’s vehicle back to Jurien.
At last!!!! Rescue 1 arrived around 1530 (3.30 pm) with several of our volunteers and locals waiting to welcome our new addition to the Group. A huge THANK YOU to Dongara Marine Pty Ltd for such an amazing vessel – we all love her!! There will be an official ceremony held in the not-too-distant future, so watch this space.
